Program Description

The Advanced Certificate in Business provides current insight into the main aspects of local and international business with a focus on business and human resource management. It covers business culture and strategy, managing people in small and large organizations and in different departments such as marketing, accounting, business law and IT. The Advanced Certificate in Business will prepare students for a wide range of positions that include: Administration Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Personal Assistant, Banking Assistant, Business Development, Purchasing Coordinator, Sales, Customer Service, Financial Assistant and Trainee Manager.

The Advanced Certificate in Business is PGWP eligible when students complete the 1+1 pathway with the University of the Fraser Valley. Students complete a one-year Advanced Certificate at Focus College Abbotsford, gaining insight into key aspects of local and international business. After one year of study at Focus College Abbotsford, students will move to the University of the Fraser Valley to complete their Diploma. Students will receive 31 credits to the Diploma in General Studies, or 21 credits to a Diploma in Business. Students graduate from the pathway program with two certifications: their Advanced Certificate from Focus College Abbotsford, and their Diploma from the University of the Fraser Valley. This lets them stand above their peers in a job search.

This program is eligible for Post Graduation Work Permit.

The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable Canadian work experience.
